The annual Banners in the Terrace Competition is one of Western Australia's biggest single community arts projects. Supported by the City of Perth, and held in conjunction with the WA Local Government Convention, banners come in from across the state to grace Saint Georges and Adelaide Terraces.
The Cuballing Shire asked me to design the banner for our 2015 entry (the first ever from Cuby), and as the Numbat is the WA Faunal (animal) State Emblem, and Cuballing is the only place the Numbat is found in the world, it seemed fitting to feature it in our banner.
Now I just have to see one in the flesh...or the fur, as it were. But as there are estimated to be only 50 Numbats left in the wild, that might be harder than it sounds.
